What are meridians?

Meridians are a concept in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), referring to a kind of “energy pathway” within the human body, akin to the energy highways of our bodies. These pathways are called meridians and traverse the entire body, connecting various organs and tissues.

Imagine meridians as rivers. Through these rivers, energy and information can flow in the body, providing each part of the body with adequate nourishment and balance. If the flow in the meridians is obstructed, it can lead to discomfort or illness.

Some treatments in TCM, such as acupuncture and massage, involve stimulating or massaging the meridians to promote energy flow in the body, restoring balance and health.

Therefore, meridians serve as energy channels in the body, and maintaining their openness contributes to the preservation of health.

Just as maintaining unobstructed flow in a river ensures that water can freely move, we must pay attention to the flow of meridians to ensure that energy in the body can also flow freely.
